Essay 2-03b: Learning with Computers

You use computers to learn many things. You should do our homework with computer.  By using computers, we can develop and improve our job skills. Also, you can learn many things in the Internet. There are many merits to use computers. On the other hand, there are some problems.

You do your homework with computers. For example, you have homework to write fifteen thousand words in our blog, get individual points in English Central, and write reports. Not only these homework, you have other homework to do with computers. In Reading class, you have to make news quiz, homework of headline with a computer. Blogging is not easy homework. I always find something to write in my blog in order to write fifteen thousand. Some students have to write many report to get units, so they write their report with computers.

By using computers, you can learn the way we use computers, and develop job skills. In many work place, people use computers. I think it is important to use computers smoothly. You can improve the skills by doing our homework and studying by ourselves. For example, you use Word, Excel to make our homework. When you use them, you can practice how to use them. To type fast, we have to type without watching keyboard of computer. I'm not good at type numbers, so I'm practicing typing numbers and words. If you have time, please try blind touch.

I make presentations in some class's homework. Thinking layout of presentations is important. I have helped my father's making presentations. Then, I thought it is important to make layout to be understood easily. Not just make a presentation. I think there will be chances to announce, so I should prepare information before making one.

We can connect to Internet with computers. The world in Internet is very wonderful. We can study many things with it. We can study English, Math, Society, and so on. When I did part time job, I studied Math with Internet because I have already dumped texts of Math when I was a high school student. In addition, we can watch movies to study or to enjoy them easily. I watch movies in youtube. I watch part of movies, American musician's songs, and listen to healing musics. I recommend you studying somethings with listening to healing musics. I can concentrate to my homework or something to do. I can study enjoying movies, so I'm not bored. I think it is important to study enjoying. You can communicate with many people in Internet. You can chat with not only Japanese, but also with many foreign people. That makes your chat skill and language skills well, I think. If you have chance, you can use skype, but be careful not to write your private information. Even if you think that is alright, someone may use the information badly.

There are many good points of computer, but there are bad points, too. When you use computer for a long time, your eye become tired. Also, your eyesight become bad like me. If you kept sitting on a same place, I think you would have shoulder ache and back ache. I had hand ache when I use computers for very very long time. That was my real experience. I wrote it is easy to type faster, but don't type long time. Computer is a consumer electronics, so we need to pay electricity charges. It doesn't cost much money if you use notebook computer little long time, I think.

It is very fun to study and learn many things with computers. I always turn on my computer when I'm in my house. However, the computer become hotter than first you use, so you have to give rests for the computer. I heard that turning on a computer for a long time doesn't cost much than turning on a computer many times, but I think that it isn't good to keep turning on computers when you don't use them.

Computer is very useful for learning many things, but using too much is not good for us. I recommend you deciding time to use it, or you will have to buy glasses. However, deciding the time is difficult for me because it is very fun to use computers. I try to limit using computers. There are many information in Internet, so we should judge that information is right or false. It is depend on us that we use computers well or not.

Essay 2-01b: My History of Languages

I have learned three languages. The languages are Japanese, English, and German. It is hard for me to study and learn languages. However, I have been trying to make my language skills well. I introduce about my history of languages. And, I write about English mainly in this essay.

 I started to go to a school of English conversation, when I was an elementary school student. Because my friend was going to the school. I was interested in the school when I heard about the school. I asked my mother to let me go to the school. Then, I started go to the school because my mother allowed me to go. First, I learned the alphabet. Next, I learned pronunciation and grammar. I didn't know the fun of English before I go to school. However, I could know the fun because of the school. Also, I could learn with my friends, so I didn't give up learning English.

When I was a junior high school student, I started to take English classes in a junior high school. I was good at writing and reading English at that time because I learned English before I entered the junior high school. I liked English, so I talked to ALT. Then, I could understand what he said. I was very happy. I tried to talk to him as much as I can. Talking to ALT made my speaking skill better than before. However, I felt that English was little difficult when I was second grade in junior high school student because English grammar became more difficult than first grade in junior high school. Then, I didn't like English. However, English is my best subject to get good score in tests, so I felt I like English. I couldn't get 100 points in English tests, but I could enjoy studying English in the school.

Also, I could exchange letters with the ALT when I was a junior high school student. I wrote many letters to the ALT, The figure of the ALT's letters which were sent by him were cute, so it is pleasure to write letters in English. Especially, the letters which were sent on Halloween and Christmas were more cute. It is interesting for me to write and read English sentences.

When I was a high school student, I was belonged to English club. The club wasn't active, but we did few things which made our English skills well. We did some games that we use English. Also, I exchanged letters with a girl who was second grade in junior high school and living in America when I was third grade in high school. She wrote English sentences in longhand, so it is hard to read them. That was good experience for me.

I like watching movies. I have some patterns to watch movies. First, I watch a movie in Japanese with no subtitle. Next, I watch the movie in English with Japanese subtitle. Then finally, I watch the movie in English with no subtitle. Therefore, I can understand what they say, and I can know new words. It takes long time, but I like this way to study English. If you have enough free time, I recommend you this way.

Sometimes, I read books in English. I read a book which is related to Michael Jackson in English. I like him, so I don't get tired of reading. I can't read them fast, so I read slowly. When I find words I don't know, I use a dictionary. The contents of the book are long, so it is hard to read all. I can know words I didn't know from the book. Reading books in English is a chance to know many words. If I have free time, I want to read more books in English. If you have your favorite books, please tell me the title of books.

Also, I watch a Yahoo website which is American version. I can know about circumstances of America. There is interesting news in there. There are many words I don't know, and I can't understand the means of the word sometimes even if I use a dictionary. Therefore, I have to guess the mean. It is difficult, but it is interesting. Many interesting news are in the websites, and the kinds of news are different from Japanese Yahoo. I recommend you this not just to study English.

I learned German in KGU. It was first time I learned another new language. Grammar of German is like English. I know nothing about German, so I tried to find laws of German. Of course, I learned many things about German from a teacher. I enjoyed learning German, so I wonder if I take German class next year.

 I think every language is difficult to understand and use perfectly. But I want to be able to use and speak the three languages. Also, I try to get better TOEIC score than before. There are many things I have to remember, so I study harder not to regret. Please tell me if you have your favorite way you study languages :)

Essays 1-02b: University Life

Students go to a library to study often. They have a large and beautiful one in KGU. There are not only books but  many teaching materials which are really helpful to study. Needless to say, they should be quiet in there, but if they need to talk about something, they can use a single room. All of these rooms are clean and large, and  perfect to study with their friends. Moreover, every student can enjoy movie collections. It’s good to refresh themselves and kill time.

KGU has a facility whose name is e-campus center. There are many computers in e-campus center. Students use the computers to do their homework, and they use them to hand in their homework to the post-office box in KGU. The atmosphere is very quiet, so they can concentrate on their homework or what they should do. Also, students can borrow notebook comuputer from e-campus center. If they don’t  have computer or notebook computer in their house, they can’t do their homework in their house. Therefore, they borrow notebook computers from e-campus center.

Every student has required subjects. Except for basic ones, students of English department have also “International society and Japan” class. If students are not interested in both international or Japanese politics, this class must be really difficult. However, knowing about politics is important to be a cosmopolitan. In writing class, they post book reviews on their blogs as a part of homework. Usually, they are required to do twice a week. What kind of books they choose is up to them. Some students choose fairy tale ones, some students choose information ones about animals,nature, and something.

They will have finals before summer vacation. A few classes have even midterm exams. Students are looking forward to summer vacation, but they must think about finals before think summer vacation plans. Some are open-book exams, but some are not. Even if they are open-book ones, students need to note down what they understand in classes surely. Students try to study hard to enjoy summer vacation.

After school, they can choose what are they going to do. There are various clubs in KGU. Students who belong to clubs, they do their own club activities. They can make friends with other departments students through club activities, having fun, driking, traveling. it seems very fun. Also, students like to spend time in a bakery. After fifth piriod, many students go there with their friends. The bakery has big windows, and looks lively. They can do whatever they want to -study, hang out and take breath.

Students come to KGU on weekdays. They come to by bus, bicycle, motorcycle, car, train, and on their foot. There are many ways they come to KGU. Maybe, almost students come to KGU by bicycle because there are many bicycles which are parked in an area for parking bicycles in KGU. Students who live near KGU take about 10 minutes to come to KGU. Students live near Aso or Yatsushiro take about an hour or more to come to KGU. Students who live near KGU use their bicycles or on their foot to come to KGU. Students who live far from KGU take train, Bus, or car. It may be hard  for them to come to KGU.

Students eat lunch at KGU. They eat bread, lunchboxes, dishes which made in KGU ,and so on. Students eat them with their friends in the school. It is very fun time to talk with friends and eat lunch. They eat lunch in a class room, a stundents’ dinig room, or bakery. Sometimes, they study what they should study with their friends. That is helpful to motivate them. Also, they can know some new information from their friends. Friendship is important to spend time in their school.

Students can go abroad with a program which is supported by KGU. However, not everyone can go. They have to get a four hundred fifty points of TOEFL. It is hard to get the points, so students who want to study abroad study hard. Moreover, they study hard to take a good score of TOEIC test. They aim to get more than six hundred or seven hundred points. That is not easy to get such score. When they can get high score, they can get closer to their dream or their job which they want to work.

Essay 1-01a: Letter to Host Family

I would like to thank you so much for having me at your home.I can't drink alcohol.I'm majoring in English. I'm not good at speaking English. I want to improve my English skills, so I decided to join this home stay program.I have my mother, my father, two brothers, and a dog. My father is little strict. My mother is kind. My brothers are very noisy. When I was a high school student, they were very noisy. Therefore, I couldn't concentrate to studying. My old brother plays soccer. He goes outside to play soccer games every week. I don't know that he studies because he doesn't study in my house. My young brother is very fat. He is younger than me, and he is smaller than me. However, his weight is heaver than me. Also, he has played soccer. I don't know why my young brother is fat. Certainly, my young brother eats a lot, and recently, he doesn't do exercise especially.My dog is very pretty. I had two dogs, but one was died last year.

 I live in Kumamoto, an I live in near mountain. There is a fall. The water is very delicious. Sometimes, I go there to get the water. There are mountains. I have climbed to the top of the mountain. The landscape is very good. There is a castle. I want to show you pictures of the castle. I want you to eat special foods in Kumamoto. There are meat of horse and karashirenkonn. I like onions, pork, and chicken. On the other hand, I don't like salad, tomatoes, and raw fish. I will try to eat all, but sometimes I am not able to eat them. I am Japanese, but I don't like sushi. If the fishes are fried, I can eat them.

 I like watching movies. My favorite kinds of movie are action, horror, mystery. If you have your recommend movie, please teach me about that. I want to watch movies I can't watch in Japan. I don't have any allergies, but I often sneeze, when I am in a dusty place. I have weak eyes. Therefore, I have headaches sometimes.

This is my first time going abroad, so I am very excited and nervous. Probably, I will feel sick in vehicles, so I will bring some medicines. I am looking forward to seeing you, and I am looking forward to having a good time with you and your family. Thank you.
